The History of Lawrencetown Beach

Lawrencetown History

The Mi’Kmaq people lived in the Lawrencetown area for about 10,000 years. They called the area between Halifax and Guysborough Tabooesinkajeth. This means two small streams flowing through the sand. They named Porter’s Lake Amagunchech, meaning the Little Windy Place.
